Robert Wagner

The photographer we selected is a highly skilled and experienced freelance professional. This selection aligns with the information presented during our class discussions. Additionally, we chose for a local street photographer based in Melbourne to facilitate the process of capturing images that closely replicate the original works. Another significant factor influencing our decision was the extensive and diverse portfolio available on the photographer's website, which provided substantial inspiration. The portfolio includes exceptional photographs in both color and black-and-white formats, showcasing remarkable artistic versatility and quality.

The first recreation showcases a male character seated on a bench, casually crossing his legs as he intently focuses on his phone. Oblivious to the photo being taken, he remains absorbed in his device. In the background, a store with the slogan "Gentleman" adds a playful and charming touch to the scene.

Sitting on the steps of intricate mechanisms, the character leans back with a quiet ease and allows himself to fade seamlessly into the frame, becoming one with the stillness of the moment. The minimalistic elements evoke a profound sense of mystery, leaving us captivated, intrigued, and yearning to uncover more about the story hidden within.

The sunlight highlights the architecture, but not the person, whose shadowed face looks downward, evoking isolation. The contrast of light and dark adds symbolism, reflecting the tension between external beauty and internal struggle. While the structure stands radiant, the shadowed figure beneath it hints at disconnection, reminding us that even amid grandeur, emotions can remain complex.

Process & Feeling

After a class discussion, we decided to create the scenes individually since it was challenging to stay on schedule if we worked together. Each of us selected an image we wanted to recreate, focusing on capturing its atmosphere. Luckily, everyone chose a different image to replicate, which made the process smoother. Some of the characters in the photos were male, so I asked a friend to model for me. For the first photo, I sought out a similar location but faced some challenges, such as finding an interesting slogan on a tram and replicating the shadow of the tree in sunlight. For the second photo, I initially thought about recreating it randomly near a museum. To my surprise, I found a matching pillar right outside an H&M shopping mall. The legs in the shot are mine, and I stretched them as much as I could to convey the same energy as the original image. The third image I recreate stands out as the most unique in this section. Initially, my plan was to depict a scene at an outdoor café. However, while walking through the shopping mall hallway, I noticed a monitor on the wall that matched the one in the picture. This unexpected discovery led me to change my approach. Since there were no chairs available, I adjusted the scene to have the narrator standing instead. Despite the light is hard to imiate, it still present the atmosphere I wished.

After completing the photography process, organizing each slide became a meaningful and memorable task. Our team collaborated online and recorded our voiceovers during free time at school. Ensuring all the pieces came together into a cohesive and well-structured final submission was a priority. Another significant aspect of the project was designing the visual elements to make the presentation both engaging and impactful. We carefully selected color schemes, fonts, and layouts to create a polished and professional design. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged to not only convey the message effectively but also captivate the audience’s attention, adding a creative touch to our work. In my opinion, the entire project process went smoothly, thanks to our team’s efficient collaboration. The sense of accomplishment we felt after submitting our AT1 files was truly rewarding.
